For the first time on American soil, the Nepali community has made history by launching Digital Camping — not just an ordinary event, but a grand campaign aimed at opening the door to the future and mapping out the nation’s path toward digital empowerment.
The visionary and mastermind behind this extraordinary plan is Prithvi Raj Upreti, under whose leadership this dream is becoming a reality. The program is being coordinated by a dynamic team of six young leaders, including Prince Yuvraj Karki — a successful and influential young entrepreneur and social worker from the Bay Area; Manoj Gautam — known for his innovative thinking and energetic personality; Dilip Acharya — a multi-talented entrepreneur; Sushil Dallakoti — CEO of Everest Accounting and an active campaigner; and Uttam Bhattarai — a spirited social worker.
It is worth recalling that just a few weeks ago, Prince Yuvraj Karki made headlines in the U.S. when he welcomed Radhika Mata with a historic flower shower from a chartered plane.
This event is not merely camping — it is the first-ever testing phase for making Nepal a free Wi-Fi nation. Conducted at the scenic shores of Folsom Lake in California, this digital testing is the first of its kind initiated by Nepalis in America.
This project is not something achievable with small thinking, minimal investment, or modest effort. It is a venture with a heart as vast as the ocean and a vision as boundless as the sky. Its ultimate goal is to expand a free Wi-Fi network to all 77 districts of Nepal, with experimental implementation across all 50 U.S. states first. Reportedly, after the U.S., the plan is to launch the project from Hariwan in Sarlahi, Nepal.
This is a 20-year dream that is now finding its way forward through the unwavering determination and foresight of Prithvi Raj Upreti. The team’s appeal is clear:
- Those who can, directly participate.
- Those who cannot, help spread this campaign across the world.
In the words of Prince Yuvraj Karki: “This is not for any individual — this is for the pride of our nation. Prithvi Dai has been working on this project for years, and today, we are conducting the successful test here at Folsom Lake.”
If this mega project succeeds, Nepal will enter a new era of digital independence. This is a plan that will be written in golden letters in history, and it has already begun from the United States — now, it needs the support of all.
