Wisconsin, USA — In a land where snow blankets the roads, lush greenery fills the horizons, and a peaceful lifestyle nurtures its residents, one dynamic, determined, and inspiring Nepali woman is stepping into the biggest social journey of her life. She is Durga Tiwari, now running for Women Vice President of the NRNA NCC USA for the 2025–27 term.
Durga Tiwari is not just a name—she is the heartbeat, the voice, and the hope of Nepali women in America. She is the force redefining the importance of women’s leadership in the Nepali diaspora.
Life Journey – A Social Commitment Born in Wisconsin
Seventeen years ago, Durga Tiwari set foot in the United States. Together with her husband, she built a business from scratch. Through hard work, dedication, and family unity, the business flourished. But their partnership didn’t end in entrepreneurship—it extended equally into community service.
Their pride is also reflected in their family—two sons now established as software engineers and a daughter currently studying in high school. Yet, her story does not stop at personal success—this was only the beginning of her social mission.
The Start of a Social Journey – First Steps into Leadership
Durga Tiwari’s official community leadership journey began in the 2021–23 term as Women Coordinator of the NRNA Wisconsin Chapter. In that role, she made it her priority to listen to, address, and bring women’s voices into leadership.
In the 2023–25 term, she took on a greater responsibility as Board of Directors (Women) of NRNA NCC USA. Here, she launched the landmark Job Search Link Project, a life-changing initiative for the Nepali community in America.
This was no ordinary project—it created real employment opportunities and set an example of what practical leadership can achieve. Her successful demonstration of the project at the AGM proved that leaders who act, not just speak, can make history.
Vision & Determination – The Roadmap for Women Vice President
Durga Tiwari sees her candidacy not as personal ambition but as a victory journey for the strength, potential, and dignity of Nepali women in the diaspora.
Her main priorities include:
1. A Historic Campaign Against Domestic Violence
Even in the Nepali community in America, tragic incidents occur. The shocking death of Mamata Kafle shook everyone. Durga vows, “Such a tragedy must never happen again.”
She plans to establish a Confidential Support Unit to listen to victims, provide legal, social, and psychological support, and work toward prevention.
2. A Nationwide Campaign for Women in Leadership
For Durga, women in leadership is not optional—it’s essential. She will initiate leadership development programs, motivation sessions, and modern training to bring capable women into the front lines of NRNA.
Her message: “The leadership stage is not only for men—it must be equally open to every qualified, capable, and willing woman.”
3. Building a Transparent, Inclusive, and Independent NRNA
She is committed to freeing NRNA from political influence, making it transparent, and inclusive for all. She believes transparency builds trust, and trust builds a stronger community.
Why She Stands Out – From Leader to Inspiration
Durga Tiwari is not a leader of words—she is a leader of action.
- The Job Search Link Project she initiated
- Concrete policies against domestic violence
- Women’s leadership development plans
All prove that she is a doer, not just a talker.
In the Eyes of the Community – The Heartbeat of Women
For many Nepali women in America, Durga is already a role model. Meeting her brings them confidence, energy, and hope. Her smile radiates warmth, her voice carries determination, and her eyes reflect a clear vision for the future.
Looking Ahead – A Call for Unity
Her election message is simple yet powerful: “Let’s join hands—men and women together—and be the drivers of our own voice. Let’s start the message of unity from within ourselves.”
This is not just a campaign to win—it’s a social revolution in the Nepali community in America, led by a woman.
Conclusion – Long Live NRNA, Long Live Women’s Leadership
Durga Tiwari’s journey is not just her personal success—it’s the shared dream of all Nepali women. From Wisconsin to every state in the USA, and from there to Nepal, her name has planted self-respect in women’s hearts, earned respect from men, and built trust in the community.
Now, the time has come to entrust her with an even greater responsibility.
