Tokyo, June 30 — The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Japan team had the honor of welcoming His Excellency MAEDA Toru, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, at the NRNA Japan office. The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening ties between the Nepali diaspora in Japan and the Japanese diplomatic mission.

During the interaction, the NRNA Japan delegation highlighted the growing challenges faced by the Nepali community — particularly international students and recently arrived migrant workers. Many of them continue to suffer from financial hardship and lack of employment opportunities, often contrary to the promises and expectations set before arriving in Japan.

The team also presented the vision of the “Nepali Ghar” (Nepal House) initiative — a cultural and community support center designed to preserve Nepali identity, provide a safe haven for those in distress, and promote cultural values for the next generation of Nepalis in Japan.
Looking ahead to the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan in 2026, both parties expressed a shared commitment to jointly organize special programs that celebrate the rich cultural and historical ties between the two nations. These efforts aim to enhance cultural exchange, promote mutual understanding, and solidify the long-standing friendship between Nepal and Japan.
“This meeting was more than a diplomatic courtesy. It was a declaration of intent — to uphold dignity, ensure representation, and empower the Nepali diaspora in Japan in a sustainable way,” said a representative of the NRNA Japan team.
The NRNA Japan leadership reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the community, advocating for their rights and working tirelessly for a better, more dignified life for all Nepalis in Japan.
Together, we rise. Together, we build.
