Los Angeles, August 13, 2025 — NRNA NCC USA Presidential Candidate Satendra Shah has formally challenged a recent directive from the NRNA NCC USA Election Commission requiring voters to upload a copy of their driver’s license along with a selfie by August 14, 2025, or risk being barred from voting in the August 16–17 election.
In an official letter addressed to Chief Election Commissioner Bashu Phullara and other commissioners, Shah asserted that the NRNA NCC USA Bylaws do not grant the Election Commission the authority to alter or restrict the voter list after it has been finalized, nor to collect personal identification documents directly from voters. He warned that such actions could be construed as unauthorized data collection and raise concerns over potential identity theft.
Shah cited the bylaws’ requirement that elections be conducted within 30 days of receiving the voter list from the Executive Committee, using the list as provided. He argued that the new directive, issued just two days before the election deadline, was both procedurally flawed and inconsistent with principles of fair electoral access.
The presidential candidate has demanded a written explanation within 24 hours outlining the legal and procedural basis for the voter ID requirement and a step-by-step outline of the entire election process. He warned that failure to respond would compel him to:
- Publicly inform NRNA USA members and stakeholders, including via social media.
- File formal complaints with relevant legal authorities, including State Attorneys General.
Shah urged the Election Commission to comply fully with the NRNA NCC USA Bylaws, safeguard voting rights, and ensure transparency in the election process.
The letter has also been copied to NRNA NCC USA President Dr. Arjun Banjade, board members, past presidents, the NRNA ICC, and life and general members through various communication channels.
